Using CBD to Achieve Balance and Wellness

If it feels like you’re trying to do too many things at once lately, you’re not alone. The average American worker gets just over 10 minutes of work done before getting distracted by something, whether it’s important or not. Multitasking has even infiltrated our downtime. More than 40% of Americans admit to browsing the internet while watching TV, and nearly half of us check our email at the movie theater (not cool, by the way).

Most of us know by now that juggling—or trying to juggle—all these responsibilities at once means that other priorities fall by the wayside. Too often, our efforts to live a healthy lifestyle get swallowed up in a sea of screens, notifications, reminders, and to-do lists. When we try and do too much, we can lose sight of living a balanced life—and that lack of balance makes it all too easy to knock us off track in ways big and small. Study Finds Top 5 Causes of Cannabis-Related Emergency Visits

A new review published in the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy determined the most common causes of cannabis-related emergency department (ED) visits, giving policy makers and industry leaders a compass for improvement. This analysis specifically looked at data from Colorado.

Cannabis legalization helps solves many problems: it eases the toll of the opioid epidemic; it creates jobs; it generates tax revenue; and it keeps cannabis out of the hands of minors. But for all the good cannabis does, we can’t lose sight of public health concerns that must be solved in order to successfully implant legalization across the U.S. and beyond.

This review provides us with five concerns to prioritize: accidental pediatric ingestion, acute intoxication, cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, synthetic cannabinoids, and injuries related to production of butane hash oil (BHO). How Veterans Are Leading the Fight for Cannabis Reform

Veterans Day just passed, which is an opportunity to publicly recognize and thank the men and women who volunteered to protect our country and secure victories in even the most trying times.

Our service members have endured over 16 years of constant warfare in the streets of Iraq, the mountains of Afghanistan, and beyond. For many, the war does not end even after they come home, as they battle to safely heal both the physical and psychological wounds sustained abroad.

It is said that a veteran is someone who, at one point in their life, “wrote a blank check made payable to ‘The United States of America’ for an amount up to and including their life.” Unfortunately, two dozen are cashing those checks each day, losing their lives to suicide or overdose. The situation is projected to get much worse if new and innovative therapies are not adopted. Continue reading “How Veterans Are Leading the Fight for Cannabis Reform”

How Getting High Will Help You Eat Your Veggies

The infamous munchies—they’re real, and if you’re ever found yourself in a situation where you’ve hit a bong one too many times and didn’t prepare any nachos beforehand, you know it’s a dire type of hunger that feels like it will never be satiated. It’s kind of great: Finally, you have an excuse to eat an entire pizza by yourself! (And then you can top it off with a pint of ice cream alternated with spoonfuls of chocolate syrup. Om nom.)

The 100 Cannabis Strains You Must Try Before You Die

Cannabis consumers are more likely than others to be fit: Scientists have found that regular consumers tend to have significantly smaller waist circumferences than people who have never consumed cannabis. According to researchers at the University of Nebraska, the Harvard School of Public Health, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, cannabis actually has the potential to improve insulin control and regulate body weight. It sounds amazing (another win for the cannabis community!), except for the fact that correlation doesn’t imply causation. The munchies are not a hallucinatory experience, and those calories are still real.

Personally, I dictate my lifestyle choices by my desire to wear crop tops all year long, but no matter what your fitness goals, if you’re trying to get into a wellness regimen and have a hard time resisting deep-dish pizza after a sesh, take heed of the following: my “Stoner Diet” tips. Strain of the Week: Lemon Ice

Lemon Ice

Strain Highlights

Lemon Ice by Ripper Seeds is a sativa-dominant strain created from Lemon Haze x Afghani. This collision of opposites creates a unique strain with columnar bud structures that adapts well to “sea of green” growing methods. The strain is also known for its furry buds knotted with pistils and a spicy, citrus-forward aroma. Lemon Ice does have a longer than average flowering time of 75-85 days, but patient gardeners are rewarded with a more than generous yield. Ripper Seeds defines the effects as “bearable,” which translates to “mind your dosage” as strong sativa effects can be hard to handle for those prone to anxiety.

Sativa vs. Indica vs. Hybrid: What’s the Difference Between Cannabis Types?

When browsing or purchasing cannabis at a shop, you may notice strains are broken up into three distinct groups: indica, sativa, and hybrid.

Indica strains are known for being physically sedating, perfect for relaxing with a movie or as a nightcap before bed. Sativas typically provide more invigorating, uplifting cerebral effects that pair well with physical activity, social gatherings, and creative projects. Hybrids tend to fall somewhere in between the indica-sativa spectrum, depending on the traits they inherit from their parent strains.
