Dry sift is a form of hash, like kief, that’s named after the process used to make it. It’s a hands-on, craft approach to separating the trichome heads from the plant material. The dry sift technique uses screens with extremely fine mesh to hand-sift the dried flowers or trim, removing the resinous glands and refining the extract into a granular consistency. High-quality dry sift is appreciated for its artisanal process and revered for its terpene profile, potency, and its ability to melt and vaporize completely. Continue reading “What Is Dry Sift Hash?”
When someone you love has high-functioning anxiety, it isn’t always obvious. And success in life ― whether recognition at work or, say, being particularly sparkly at a party ― doesn’t mean he or she isn’t dealing with something internally.
While those living with the condition are dealing with debilitating side effects, they hide it well ― even from their loved ones or significant others. People who struggle with the disorder often experience excessive worry and panic, headaches and more.
As with any mental health condition, the more people know about it, the better. Education is critical when it comes to erasing stigma ― and less stigma could mean more people with disorders will reach out for help. Research shows negative stereotypes often prevent people with mental health issues from seeking treatment.
We asked our Facebook communities to share what they want their partners and families to know about high-functioning anxiety as a way to shine a light on the condition. Below are some things to keep in mind if you love someone who is dealing with it:
1. Routine tasks can feel impossible.
“Some daily activities that may seem easy for them are not for me. Shopping, going to the post office, school, etc. It’s not easy and sometimes there are days that I can’t fake it and pretend that my anxiety isn’t out of control.” ―Sabrina Campbell Continue reading “What To Know If You Love Someone With High-Functioning Anxiety”
Our Journey with CBD Oil
My husband and I are huge believers in medicinal marijuana and want to share our story in hopes that it might help another family. We are be no means experts in this area, but connecting with other cannabis families is important as so much of the process is all on the parents.
Our little guy (who has just turned 3) was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was about 6 months old and has been taking a variety of seizure medications ever since. For the first month of his diagnosis he was on and off different medications until the doctor finally found a combination that worked for him. And that medication is still working for him two and a half years later. There are some amazing ways these oils are changing children’s lives everywhere. His story isn’t quite like the others, but they have changed his life nonetheless. Continue reading “Our Journey with CBD Oil”

Blunts. You like blunts, I like blunts, Rihanna likes blunts. We all like blunts. In fact, I like them so much that one day I was smoking a Swisher Sweet full of some Chemdawg when I asked myself which blunt wrap is the best. Even though I knew the answer was the one I was holding, I couldn’t really make that call until I tried each type that I could get my hands on. Next thing you know, I’m driving all over the city picking up a pack of every single wrap behind every single counter until I had eight or nine different types. It may come as no surprise that travel is also associated with mental health and happiness: While the wrong type of trip can leave you more stressed and frazzled than before, the right kind has the potential to grow your brain, help you find more meaning in life and provide memories that will give you happiness boosts for years to come.
Here’s how to take (and return from!) a trip that delivers the most mental bang for your buck.
1. Plan early and often.
Research shows travel’s biggest happiness boost comes not from trips themselves, but from the excitement of planning beforehand. However, one small study confirmed that some people feel more stressed than usual the week before vacation, due to mounting strain at work and home before they leave. People call beets a lot of things ― earthy, or even dirty, gets thrown around a lot ― but beautiful is not often one of them. And it should be. Beets, with their ruby red or golden yellow hue, are stunners. When put to work in the right recipes, they will easily impress.
That’s not all beets are good for, either. These roots are a nutritional powerhouse. They’re high in betaine, which helps fight inflammation. They’re rich in nitrates, which could help lower blood pressure. And they’re a great source of folates, which is vital in disease risk reduction. Continue reading “Smoky Black Bean Beet Burgers”
